I can’t wait for the Farmer’s Market to open in May; local produce for better prices! But until then, I am left to wander the produce aisle at the grocery store (our former CSA box was just too much for us two). I have been really craving strawberries and soon the many stands along the side of the road will be open as well.
But enough dreaming about the upcoming months (oh my goodness we will have baby in less than 3!), here is this week’s plan.

The Stores and their Deals
Raley’s has a couple meat coupons out, their chicken legs and thighs are $.99 a pound and their pork sirloin chops are buy one get one free. Safeway has their “Extreme Value Packs” of pork on sale as well. I will have to compare which one is cheaper. Safeway has Danon Greek Yogurt (can’t get enough of strawberry Greek yogurt lately) on sale too.
This week, we are buying our chicken in bulk. My father-in-law works for a big chicken company and can get us 40 lbs of frozen skinless and boneless chicken breasts for $50 bucks; that’s $1.25 a pound. Safeway has their bags of frozen chicken, and on sale it is still $1.99 a pound, so it’s a considerable amount of savings.
