Crock pot roast beef

I’ve been enjoying the crock pot lately; it’s just so easy to use. Simply brown the meat, throw it in the crock pot with some liquid and leave it alone all day.

Tonight we had roast from a local grass-fed beef supplier. Roast beef isn’t my favorite piece of meat but I still find it edible if it’s moist and flavorful. Here’s tonight’s recipe:

Roast beef with the cooking juices


  • 8 oz tomato sauce (get the one with no sugar added, which the one in the picture did happen to have)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 cup water

Don't use this sauce - it has sugar in it


  • Coat meat in dry seasonings and brown in a pan on both sides
  • Place meat in crock pot with tomato sauce, water, onion, and garlic
  • Cook on high for 4 hours and low for at least 2 hours – or low for 8 hours
  • Turn over once or twice throughout the span of the cooking
  • Meat will be fork tender and juices will start to thicken
  • I like it served with lots of juice
